Painting in watercolor is so enjoyable on these surfaces. If you’re a watercolorist, I highly recommend you give them a try.
Why I Paint in Watercolor –I was introduced to watercolor in the 1980s and nearly thirty years later it’s still my medium of choice. I love its portability, immediacy, transparent qualities, and the many ways it can be combined with other media. As my watercolor students will attest because I say it so often, my favorite surface to paint on is Claybord® by Ampersand. Working on Claybord® allows my watercolors to be displayed without glass and the colors remain so vibrant and pure. (I also love that it’s so re- workable since I love being able to paint without having to do a lot of drawing or pre-planning!)
Below is a sample of my work. It shows you what I like to paint when I’m not helping someone else with their painting 🙂
Lastly, for those who are artists, I’d like to share a letter that has been real inspiration to me: Pope John Paul II’s 1999 Letter to Artists
